North of My Soul, South of My Existence, 2018

In chinese calligraphy handwritten by Senstad.

The text piece was part of the exhibition Scene Unseen on Nordic Art and Design at He Xiangning Art Museum, in Shenzhen, China.

Dec 1, 2018-March 3, 2019.

The neon text was initially created in collaboration with curator Bjørn inge Follevåg based on the joint Nordic titles for each countries pavillions. The idea of writing Chinese calligraphy as a non-Chinese person and artist, is based on concepts of language as metaphor for belonging and place, language as a bridge between cultures - a gestural psychological and playful word game traversing literature, understanding and tolerance. The text was translated by curator and writer Tansy Xiao.
